Job Description
Development Alternatives is seeking a Researcher to join our team in Delhi. This role involves working closely with the Assistant Program Director to drive the organization’s initiatives on Sustainable Habitats. The aim is to integrate resource efficiency and circular economy principles across sectors such as buildings and construction, waste management, and urban planning, ultimately contributing to ecological resilience and improved living conditions for local communities.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct primary and secondary research on sustainable urban development, including literature review, field data collection, interviews, surveys, data analysis, and timely project deliverables.
- Compile technical reports, knowledge products, and presentations, manage projects, and conduct field work under senior management supervision.
- Assist in organizing workshops, knowledge-sharing events, proposal writing, business development, and other project or domain-related activities.
Desired Profile:
- Experience in research on sustainable built environments, climate-resilient urban development, planning, and governance.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders such as state departments, ministries, multilateral organizations, and CSOs.
- Understanding of circular economy concepts, green buildings, urban climate change mitigation and adaptation, sustainable urban development, waste management, and emerging technologies.
- Knowledge of the current policy and market landscape around sustainable urban development.
- Strong writing and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork, including visits to smaller towns, villages, and remote locations.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in writing, academic research, and presentations.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and online collaborative tools.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Google SketchUp, Adobe Suite is an asset.
- Familiarity with tools and methodologies for Material Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Building Information Modelling (BIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Environmental Impact Assessment is a bonus.
